Review & My Thoughts:
For my first box, I subscribe to the 4 person family plan with 3 meals per week. The reason I chose this was firstly I had a discount offer come available through my work and my thinking was since there is just my husband and I, why not choose the 4 person family plan. More food, more leftovers, less money spent on groceries for that week & possibly the next. Ya, know what I'm saying???
If I didn't have the discount, I probably wouldn't have pick that plan.
I've seen Hello Fresh advertised before but without discounts off the plans, I just didn't see how it would work out financially in away that it would benefit us. But after signing up, you do have the option (which I didn't know before a head of time) of either Weekly, Bi-weekly, or Monthly. Did I stay subscribed after receiving my first box? No. But. There's a but. Financially at the moment I just don't have the means, just bad timing in that department but later on down the road, I would totally be up for signing up again and most likely to go with the Pronto Plan for 2 people/bi-weekly. The meals were good (some need a few tweaks but overall good) and the recipes were easy to follow along & prepare. I'm not the cook of the family, I can bake & do breakfast but that's my limit. But I'm telling you I was able to pull these off no problem.
So if I can do it. You can 😛

My Weekly Meals Were:
1. Speedy Pork Stir-Fry
"Ah, ginger and pork. The two go together like Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Dancing across your taste buds tonight, this lip smacking concoction in tasty oyster sauce served on a bed of pillowy jasmine rice won't fail to have you swinging."
*Was my favourite out of the three meals.
2. Zucchini Chicken Gratin
with Roasted Potatoes & Green Salad
"Life's most precious commodity is time and tonight we want to make sure you've got more of it to do stuff that counts. Get your kids to help you grate the zucchini for this yummy recipe to cut down on prep time (and increase some family bonding time!)."
* The salad & potatoes were good. Then again how can you really go wrong with those two. The chicken was a bit on the bland side. Not much flavour and too much zucchini for my liking.
3. Smoky Beef Tacos
with Sautéed Peppers, Jicama and Guacamole
"We're giving your typical taco night a little upgrade. Say goodbye to seasoning packets and jarred salsa! Tonight's tacos are full of cumin-scented beef, creamy guacamole, and crisp, juicy jicama. A little cilantro finishes each taco with a bright touch."
* This dish was ok. It definitely took the longest to prep/prepare. It tasted good but I'm not a fan of guacamole so I added a bit of sour cream & some cheese that I already had in the fridge.
Quick summary (and it may be repetitive): The 1st dish - Speedy Pork Stir-Fry was my favourite by far. I have a new found love for Jasmine Rice. Just don't add too much salt to the boiling water, if anyones does try it out.
The 2nd & 3rd dish - were both ok. Nothing OMG. Each had their own little flaws, in my opinion and they can very well be my own personal taste. Too much zucchini with the chicken & the tacos just needed a little bit extra, if your not a fan of guacamole.

Disclaimer: These posts are my own honest opinion & I was not paid by anyone to provide them. Occasionally, I do receive free samples and I am asked to make a review, in exchange.
