My Review/Opinion:
I was pretty excited to have been chosen for the Covergirl product review. I received the new Covergirl truBlend liquid makeup in the shade I1 Usually every foundation I try ends up being too dark. So after checking out Covergirls website and taking the quick and easy shade match questionnaire, COVERGIRL.ca/en_CA/embraceyourface I came to the conclusion that I1 would be the perfect match (hopefully).
The first thing I have to say is about the packaging. The logo/design of the bottle is straight forward, I didn't have an issue with that it was nice and clean looking. My issue was with the pump. A pump for a foundation, is always a nice feature but mine, sadly broke on the second try :( So a fail on the pump/packaging.
As for the color. It was a great match to my skin tone and it did blend out pretty good. I found it to apply/blend out easier with a damp sponge (Real Techniques in my case). I did try it with two different brushes but the sponge just worked the best. Coverage is light to medium, and it is easy to build up.
The next issue I had was if setting it with powder, it really really didn't hold up throughout the day at all. Breaks apart and overall looks cakey and bad. Especially close up. Another thing I found was it did last longer and improve the overall look throughout the day, is if you use a setting spray over the top after applying.
A little side note, if you use a primer before make sure that it's good and absorbed into your skin before applying and if your using concealer or any other makeup along with the truBlend liquid makeup make sure that it is blended well. In my case I found that this foundation didn't quite play well with other products. Hence, why I said it's best with a sponge. A brush just makes it a lot worse.
Rating 1 (Poor) - 5 (Great)
Packaging - 2 (Pump broke)
Effectiveness - 4 (Light to medium coverage)
Lasting Ability - 4 (Low end 4)
Price - 3 ($11.94 local box store. In my opinion better options out there for the price.)
Overall, I'm giving the CoverGirl tru Blend foundation a 4 out of 5. Good shade match and the overall feel/look does work well, once you find the best tools/makeup to use along with it.
